Michael J. Furlong, JD
President
Mike Furlong is a licensed attorney and proven business leader in Lawyers Professional Liability. Mike has led the largest books of program lawyers’ business and state bar association relationships. He has an extensive track record leading and driving profitable results in small and large law firm professional liability, and has managed underwriting teams writing both primary and excess positions. Mike’s responsibilities include business development, book rolls, operations, distribution management, underwriting, risk management, and claims. He is a frequent speaker on legal malpractice underwriting, risk control, and claims trends.
As a native of Iowa, Mike attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a B.A. Degree. He received his Juris Doctor from Creighton University Law School. He is licensed to practice law in the states of Missouri and Kansas. Mike currently resides in the Kansas City area.
Todd Livergood, FCAS
Vice President, Actuarial & Business Analytics
Todd is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society with more than 25 years' experience in the insurance industry. Before joining ORLSI in April of 2023, Todd spent most of his career at CNA Insurance and more recently at Berkley Select. Throughout his career, he has held a variety of roles as both an individual contributor and a manager, working in pricing and reserving roles across commercial and specialty product lines. His experience includes several years working on professional E&O products for lawyers, realtors, accountants, nurses, and dentists.
Todd holds a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from Grand Valley State University and a Master of Science in Analytics from the University of Chicago.
Kimberly A. Mozdzierz, JD
Vice President, Underwriting Operations Leader
Kim has been a licensed attorney for more than 35 years and has more than 23 years’ experience in the insurance industry. As a licensed attorney, she was a criminal prosecutor in Cook County Illinois and then specialized in labor and employment litigation. Prior to joining ORLSI, she managed and underwrote several lawyers professional liability program books for over a decade. Kim’s broad experience includes operations, claims, and underwriting. She is also an experienced project manager and a certified Six Sigma Quality Black Belt and LEAN Sigma Instructor.
Kim is a licensed attorney in Illinois having earned her Juris Doctor from IIT Chicago Kent College of Law and bachelor’s degree in telecommunication with a minor in business administration from Indiana University.
Maryanne E. Brenna, JD
Vice President, Program Underwriting
Maryanne is a licensed non-practicing attorney with more than 20 years’ experience in the Lawyers Professional Liability insurance industry. Prior to joining the insurance industry, she practiced law in New York, specializing in insurance defense. In 2004, Maryanne began handling professional liability claims against lawyers. Later, she began underwriting law firms for their Lawyers Professional Liability risks. Maryanne’s underwriting expertise ranges from solo law firms to international “mega” law firms.
Maryanne holds a Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York at Albany. She earned a Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law and was admitted to practice in 1999.
Frank English, JD
Vice President, Lawyers Claims (PMA Companies)
Frank is a licensed attorney and claims professional with extensive experience managing the defense of lawyers and law firms from professional liability claims. Prior to joining PMA Companies—a sister company of Old Republic Lawyers Specialty Insurance—Frank spent 20 years at a competing insurance company as a lawyers claims professional, lawyers claims leader, and also as senior underwriter for the middle-market law firms team.
Eugene J. Alpin, JD
Vice President, Program Underwriting
Gene brings more than 35 years’ experience in the insurance industry to his role at Old Republic. Prior to joining Old Republic Lawyers Specialty Insurance, Gene, an attorney licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, spent the previous 20 years managing a large book of market-leading Lawyers Professional Liability programs. Prior to that, he underwrote and managed various professional liability products and programs.
